Shrimp Breed
Quality Shrimp Breeds For Good Harvest

Breed quality is one of the most important factors determining survival rate as well as growth rate, farming cost and quality of commercial shrimp. For successful farming, farmers need to pay attention to choose quality seed from reputable hatcheries to minimize risks and increase shrimp performance.

Quality Shrimp Breeds For Good Harvest

Quality Shrimp Breeds For Good Harvest

1. Choose quality breed for successful farming

At market prices, the cost of buying seed often accounts for less than 10% of the commercial value of shrimp, but it is a decisive factor for 60% of the success of the crop. Therefore, the selection of breed is a particularly important technical step because carelessly choosing poor quality seed will easily lead to the risks of diseased shrimp, shrimp mortality, slow growth, etc., causing high costs and risk of losing everything in the worst case.

In addition, to ensure the best quality of breed, farmers need to learn carefully about the origin of the broodstock as well as the nursing process of the hatchery before deciding to buy. With a reputable establishment like Truc Anh BiOtech, the quality of the breed will be guaranteed from the certificate of origin of the broodstock when imported for nursing to the disease-free certificate of PL shrimp when sold to customers. All information must be very clear, avoiding ambiguity about the origin and origin of the breed.

2. Truc Anh’s biological nursing process

At TA BIOTECH PTY LTD, we always strive to create the best quality breed to ensure the success of your farming. To do that, we not only select and control the quality of broodstock, but also apply a nursing process using biotechnology:

  • Use only probiotic;
  • Create a natural cultured water environment for shrimp;
  • Absolutely do not use antibiotics in production;
  • At the same time, optimal nutrition for the development of shrimp breeding.

With the initiative in both water and food sources, Truc Anh BiOtech can commit that the breed to the farmers is disease-free because it is reared in a closed and closely monitored process.

2.1. Quality control of broodstock

In the early stages of development, Truc Anh BiOtech also only imported Nauplius larvae for production like many other hatcheries. But realizing that there is a limitation in quality control if we start nursing from Nauplius, we have been very anxious to find a way to overcome it. And after many years of efforts, Truc Anh BiOtech has been proactive about the origin of broodstock to create better quality and more uniform breeds.

a. Actively source shrimp broodstock

Up to now, broodstock shrimp has been selected by Truc Anh BiOtech as a super growth line imported directly from SIS (in Hawaii) – the world’s leading prestigious company for broodstock. This is a line of whiteleg shrimp that has been domesticated for fast growth, disease resistance, health, and is suitable for production conditions in Vietnam.

To ensure that the broodstock put into production has the best quality and is completely disease-free, the entire import process is strictly controlled and certified by the authorities according to regulations.

b. Optimizing the farming process

Not only strictly controlled on origin, after being imported, shrimp broodstock are also reared according to Truc Anh BiOtech’s process to ensure optimal nutrition and minimize pathogens. All factors such as stocking density, water source, diet will be closely monitored, specifically:
– Exchange water (treated) every day, and periodically check and disinfect the culture tank;
– Ensure absolute stocking density suitable for the health of the shrimp herd, as well as the delivery quality when the shrimp are about to spawn;

– Using completely fresh food with high nutritional content (squid, oyster, sea buckthorn), and disinfected before feeding; combine necessary vitamin and mineral supplements during the rearing process;
– Do not cut eyes, do not force spawn or maximize spawning power, but let shrimp spawn naturally in order to maintain the quality and health of Nauplius larvae;
– Always comply with the nursing time and destroy the broodstock as prescribed under the strict supervision of the competent authority.
In addition, the broodstocks when laying is also transferred to a separate water tank to limit the spread of pathogens. And after hatching, Nauplius larvae are also sampled periodically for pigment, shape, pathogens, bacteria… at the lab.

2.2. Monitoring the nursing process of shrimp PL

After a careful selection process, Nauplius larvae will be taken to the PL shrimp farm to continue nursing until they reach the specified size for sale to shrimp farmers. By applying biotechnology, PL shrimp reared according to Truc Anh BiOtech process grow quickly and molt synchronously, thereby shortening the farming time from Nauplius stage to sale (about 17-18 days) to ensure the growth of shrimp while limiting the risk of disease transmission.

a. Good treatment of farming water

To ensure the cleanliness of pathogens, the hatchery’s water source is always filtered, settled and carefully treated through many stages before being put into production, specifically:

  • Sedimentation through multiple pond systems to remove silt and suspended impurities;
  • Put the filtered water into the tarpaulin to carry out the disinfection stage;
  • Continue to filter water through modern filtration systems (such as centrifugal sand filter, core filter).

The water after being carefully filtered and disinfected will be continuously aerated and thoroughly tested to ensure that all water parameters are really stable, suitable and up to the standards then put into production.

b. Actively source food

Breeding according to biological process, in addition to absolutely not using antibiotics and chemicals, shrimp larvae will be fed fresh algae (from the Nauplius stage) and artemia eggs (from the Zoea 3 stage) to keep the liver and intestines healthy. has high resistance and fast growth.

The algae used as food is Chaetoceros algae, which is rich in nutrients for larvae, researched and provided by Can Tho University. In order to ensure the safety and quality of food sources, Truc Anh BiOtech has boldly invested in facilities as well as technical training for staff in proactively checking and storing new sources of algae in accordance with the regulations. periodically, from which it is possible to self-cultivate biomass algae for food.

c. Strictly control pathogens

Not only strictly control the source of broodstock, water source and food source, the entire production area as well as transport vehicles, people and production tools are disinfected and sterilized according to safety regulations. biological to minimize pathogens from outside.

Most importantly, before selling to customers, TA BIOTECH PTY LTD will take samples of water and shrimp for testing to receive a certificate of disease-free from the competent authority according to regulations. With breeds purchased from TA BIOTECH PTY LTD, you can assured that shrimp will not be infected with the following diseases:

  • White Spot Disease (WSD);
  • Yellowhead Disease (YHD);
  • Taura Syndrome (TSV):
  • Infectious Myonecrosis Virus (IMNV);
  • Bacterial disease causing necrotizing hepatopancreas (Necrotising Hepatopancreatitis – NHP);
  • Infectious hypodermal and hematopoietic diseases Hematopoietic Necrosis – IHHNV);
  • Acute Hepatopancreatic Necrosis Syndrome – AHPNS);
  • Luminous Bacteria Disease;
  • Filamentous Bacterial Disease;
  • And some other diseases.

3. Truc Anh Shrimp breed – The value of trust

Always keeping in mind “one prestige, great wall trust”, Truc Anh BiOtech only sells breeds that meet the standards and uniformity in size and weight, as well as strictly control the packaging and transportation process to ensure ensure that the breed to the farmers is always in sufficient quantity and of good quality. With a network of agents across the country, we can quickly transport shrimp breeds within a day, and at the same time assist in adjusting all environmental parameters (such as pH, alkalinity, salinity) as required for ensuring the best breed health right after release.

With an ever-growing scale, the number of breeds appearing now reaches 500-700 million PL/year and is expected to increase to 1.5-2 billion PL/year in the following years, TA BIOTECH PTY LTD always strives to affirming the brand and ensuring the quality of the seed is getting better and better. Because we understand, when choosing the breed of TA BIOTECH PTY LTD, the people give us confidence in the quality and success of the crop. That is the driving force for Truc Anh BiOtech to constantly develop. And it is also a pleasure to look back at the survey data from 2018-2021, the breeding households using TA BIOTECH PTY LTD seed have been successful up to 70%.
